EU to provide aid packages to 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey


The European Union has prepared an aid package for 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, said a European advisor on Tuesday .The EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini's consultant for Turkey, Giles Portman, who spoke at the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee in Brussels, brought attention to a 'substantial' aid package destined for Syrian refugees in Turkey, without specifying details. ''We're prioritizing close engagement with Turkey its important to keep the border open and deliver supplies,'' Portman said. "We need to acknowledge and praise Turkey's humanitarian response.'' Portman said the EU was waiting for Turkey's response in order to ratify and deliver the aid package.The EU plans to offer tools for basic education, health as well as access to services and vocational training.
