12 killed in car bomb attack on Kurdish militants in Syrian city of Qamishli


An estimated 12 people were killed and 40 injured in a car bomb attack on a Kurdish militants building in the north-eastern Syrian city of Qamishli on Wednesday, a local medical official told dpa. Residents said civilians and members of Kurdish militants were among the dead in the blast, which was heard up to 5 kilometers away.Fearing a second explosion, Kurdish militants fired shots in the air to disperse crowds gathering at the scene.Qamishli, which lies on Syria's border with Turkey and is mainly controlled by Kurdish militants, has seen a number of bomb attacks, which have been blamed on ISIS.The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), backed by US-led airstrikes, have forced ISIS from wide areas in north-eastern Syria and along the border this year.
