Israel suspends EU role in Israeli-Palestinian peace process

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday to suspend EU's role in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, citing EU's latest decision to label Israeli exports.Israel's Foreign Ministry said Sunday that Netanyahu had ordered contacts with EU representatives to be frozen until a "reassessment process is completed."It did not go into detail as to which institutions are affected. The peace process with the Palestinians broke down early last year.Israel also said it would suspend dialogue on certain political issues earlier this month when the EU issued its new directive labelling Israeli produce made in the West Bank East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights as "settlement products". Israel says the labeling is unfair and discriminatory. The EU says it is an accurate depiction of origin since the goods are not made in Israel.
