Iran sent five planes of vegetables to Qatar, Iran's national carrier said Sunday, days after Gulf countries cut off air and other transport links to the emirate.

"Following the sanctions... on Qatar, IranAir has so far transported food and vegetables to this country by five flights," Iran Air spokesman Shahrokh Noushabadi said, adding that deliveries would continue as long as there is demand from Qatar.

Meanwhile, three ships loaded with 350 tonnes of fruit and vegetables were also set to leave an Iranian port for Qatar, the Tasnim news agency quoted a local official as saying.

The head of the industries, business and trade organisation in the Fars province Ali Hemmati said that Iran will export 100 tonnes of fruits and vegetables to Qatar every day.

Earlier, Turkey has started to provide daily food and water supplies to Qatar with Turkish Airlines Cargo planes.

Qatari market chains also announced on social media that daily food products from Turkey such as milk, yogurt, and chicken were now on the shelves with signs "from Turkey by air."

Market employees reported that Turkish products are in high demand and all food supplies can be found in most of the supermarkets across Qatar.

Starting from June 5, Bahrain, Comoros, Egypt, Maldives, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen's internationally backed government and one of Libya's three governments have cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar over accusations that the Gulf nation funds militant groups – charges Doha calls baseless.

Several other Muslim nations also downgraded their diplomatic ties with Qatar.
