Concert brings diverse cultures together

Yedi Cihan Kadınları (Women of the World) will give an unforgettable concert titled ‘Turkey’s Languages, Turkey’s Melodies’ at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, under the auspices of the Yunus Emre Institute



The Yunus Emre Institute continues to make a name for itself and brings diverse cultures together through their cultural centers in more than 30 countries around the world. The institute stands out with its work concerning education, teaching, culture and arts both in Turkey and in other countries. The concert series, which will continue throughout the upcoming year, will kick off with a performance by Yedi Cihan Kadınları on Dec. 12 at the CRR Concert Hall. The band, which has an exclusive fan base thanks to their different style, reflects Turkey's multi-layered and vibrant nature through their music. Yedi Cihan Kadınları is a band composed of 10 instrument players and four soloists performing examples from traditional Ottoman rhythms and local folk songs. The band's repertoire features songs from different languages, such as Arabic, Kurdish and Balkan languages. Yedi Cihan Kadınları which will play songs from the Turkmens of Kirkuk to Circassian melodies along with Georgian and Armenian folksongs includes artists Eda Karaytuğ, Mehtap Demir, İmran Salkan and Züleyha.
