A musical to remember the Srebrenica massacre 2 decades on

At least 250 artists will perform a musical in July across five continents for the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. Emir Nuhanovic, the orchestral conductor who has worked on this project for two years, told Anadolu Agency that the "Lamentoso for Srebrenica" aims to tell the world about the massacre committed in Srebrenica. "Unfortunately, Srebrenica has not happened only here, it has happened in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in other parts of the world, as well," said Nuhanovic. "Our idea is to play [the lamentoso] on all continents and show the horrors of Srebrenica to all people in the world." After the premiere in Sarajevo, the "Lamentoso for Srebrenica" will be played in Istanbul or Ankara, New York, Sydney, Hiroshima, London, Kigali and many other cities, added Nuhanovic. The last part of the composition called "Dancing Skeleton" describes the horror of a mother who lost all her sons, but continues to sing them a lullaby every day, revealed Nuhanovic. The Srebrenica massacre happened in July 1995. Forces of the Bosnian Serb Army entered the protected enclave of Srebrenica and shot more than 8,000 unarmed civilians in just a few days.
