Antalya's 17th international piano festival to kick off


Organized by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, the 17th Edition of the Antalya International Piano Festival is set to take place from Sept. 21 to Oct. 14. The festival, which has been included in the European festivals' Union, will make a tremendous impression, bringing prominent Turkish and international musicians together in the southern province of Antalya this year. Antalya will welcome Zhang Zou, winner of numerous awards and named "Piano Genius of the New Generation," Manolo Carrasco, a household name in piano flamenco, Julian Rachlin, one of the best violin and cello virtuosos of the world, Tolga Atalay, pianist and clavichord player , Darrell Ang, three time Grammy nominee and world renowned maestro, Gökhan Aybulus, one of Turkey's youngest and most talented pianists, Roberto Cominati, world-renowned Italian pianist and many other outstanding classical and flamenco musicians.Under the art directorship of maestro Gürer Aykal, the Antalya Intern ational Piano Festival promises a surprising program to classical music lovers. The festival will open its curtains with a concert by Zhang Zuo on Sept. 21 at the EXPO 2016 Antalya Congress Center. The Mediterranean Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Gürer Aykal will accompany Zuo on the stage during the concert, which is sponsored by Turkish Airlines (THY). Manolo Carrasco will perform on Sept. 25, while violinist and maestro Julian Rachlin will take the stage with the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra on Oct. 1. Then, on Oct. 7, the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Darrell Ang will share the stage with soloist Gökhan Aybulus. On Oct. 14, the closing day of the festival, Gürer Aykal will conduct the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, which will be accompanied by soloist Roberto Cominati onstage.
