33-year-old visually-handicapped musician Erdem Kızgın plays the accordion on the streets of Tekirdağ province, located in the East Thrace region of Turkey, despite 80% of vision loss.

Visually-impaired since birth Kızgın has been making a living by giving "street concerts" in Tekirdağ for the last decade.

The talented musician said his life changed after he learned to play the accordion, even though people around him kept telling him that he would never be able to do it.

"Music is my best friend" said Kızgın.

"Being handicapped doesn't really mean that you can't do something. People with disabilities can actually do a lot. I overcame the stigma of being handicapped with music" he added.

Kızgın has been playing his accordion on the streets for the past 15 years.

"Music is the best thing that has ever happened to me" he says, highlighting that it was a dream everyone thought he would never realize.

Kızgın has amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, a disorder of sight in which vision in one or both of the eyes fails to achieve normal visual acuity even with prescription glasses or contact lenses as the eye and the brain do not work together properly.
