World's violinists to gather at Istanbul festival


Violin virtuosos, musicians and master violin makers will gather in Istanbul on Nov. 15 for the three-day World Violin Festival.

The festival will be held at the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall (CRR). The first event, organized for the third time this year, will be a conversation among participating artists under the direction of Serhan Bali and Cihat Aşkın.

Elfida Su Turan, Ilgın Top, Bade Daştan and Orçun Orçunsel, a successful young conductor, composer and pianist, will take the stage.

The concert "The story of Three Violins" will also be performed on the first day of the festival, where violin masters with different cultural backgrounds come together.

On the second day, the festival hosts Francesca Dego and Francesca Leonardi, young virtuosos of the international stage. The Kiev Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will be on the stage with the duo, which is performing in Istanbul for the first time.

A conversation with Cihat Aşkın, Parisa Arsalani and Behrang Hasani and another,"Nurbay Tekyay, A legend in Turkish Violin Art," will take place on the last day of the festival.

The festival will end on Nov. 17 with the concert "The Archaic Tradition of the Middle East."
