AK Party's victory on international media
ANKARA — Turkey's local elections were widely covered by the international media as with headlines reading, "Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan won a victory in the nationwide local elections."U.S. media described Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan`s victory as an "absolute victory". Erdoğan's conservative Justice and Development Party (AKP) has received 45 percent of the vote', broadcaster CNN Turk also reported early on Monday.The Washington Post reported that, "Turkey's Prime Minister's party in Turkey, comes out on top in municipal elections despite the scandal claims". The Washington Post described the result as a "Resounding victory for Erdoğan."Financial Times published the news title as "Recep Tayyip Erdoğan claims victory in Turkey national polls."ABC News wrote that "Compared to the 2009 local election results, Erdoğan's party had much higher votes in this election." The election campaign was perceived as a choice of destiny. Meanwhile, long queues in front of polling stations showed that the participation rate was quite high.
