President Erdoğan, when asked about his call in Ethiopia for the closure of schools managed by the controversial Gülen Movement, has said that he has spoken with the presidents of every country he has visited on the issue and would continue to do so."If you ask why, I'll tell you this. We will do our best against this mentality that complains to other governments and parliaments about its own government," he said. He accused the Gülen Movement of waging a propaganda campaign in the U.S., approaching representatives and senators to sabotage relations with Turkey. "The government will do its utmost against this group. We held talks in Somalia and Ethiopia and received a positive response. They said 'Anyone who is against you is also against us.' The group has no presence in Djibouti. Our Education Ministry is working on certain projects. Our education minister met with his counterparts in these counties, both to assist them and to prevent them from being infected by the group."The Gülen Movement, which has hundreds of schools around the world, exploited its influence within the judiciary, police and the media to attempt to overthrow the government. Dozens of Gülenist operatives have been remanded in custody and dozens of others are currently being investigated for their illegal wiretapping and other crimes.
