Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Erdoğan Toprak, who was tasked with the party's electoral campaign, made statements in an interview to a local newspaper where he said that less educated people tend to vote for right-wing parties.

Despite the CHP's promises of increasing the minimum wage, reducing diesel prices to TL 1.5 ($0.60) as well as a poverty wage program for poor families, a family insurance project that aims to pay a certain amount to families with insufficient income, it has been found that many housewives and farmers voted for the Justice and Development Party (AK Party). In this regard, the CHP Deputy Chairman Toprak said that less educated individuals vote for right-wing parties.

Throughout the election campaigning, CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu took center stage with populist election promises, which some CHP deputies, such as Fikri Sağlar, described as a "failure" for the party. Taking into consideration the election results, Kılıçdaroğlu appears to have failed to convince the public. Similar to Toprak's statement, an academic from Sabancı University questioned the idea of voters' choice and said that there is no such thing as voters' will and described it as bogus.

In the interview, Toprak further said that the CHP is left with narrow options for a coalition government due to the Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) strict stance and remarks about forming a 60 percent bloc – the opposition bloc. He said that if the MHP were to agree to form a coalition government with the CHP and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), then the MHP would be able to engage and understand the HDP better.
