The number of detainees in Turkey's nationwide operation against terror groups reached 893 on Monday. The suspects are accused of being members of the PKK, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), attacking security forces and staging illegal demonstrations.In pre-dawn raids on Sunday in six provinces across the country, police raided many locations and took 52 suspected ISIS members into custody. In Istanbul, the number of detentions is over 100, including at least 37 foreigners and an ISIS suspect known by the pseudonym "Abu Hanzala." He was later arrested with three other suspected ISIS members.Police started operations on Friday across the country with the goal of finding those having links to terror groups, including ISIS and the PKK. The move came after the recent deaths of Turkish citizens, police officers and soldiers in a wave of terror attacks. Many weapons, including 31 grenades, many Molotov cocktails, 24 handguns and dozens of other arms were found.

The latest incident happened Sunday in Istanbul when a police officer was shot dead while trying to detain a suspect in the Gazi neighborhood. He was shot in the chest while trying to disperse a group "belonging to an illegal organization" after they blocked a main street and attacked police officers with sticks, stones and Molotov cocktails, according to police.
