AK Party takes 7 provinces across Turkey from opposition CHP, MHP and HDP

The Justice and Development (AK) Party took the lead in 7 additional provinces across Turkey in the Nov. 1 snap election, increasing its majority from 56 provinces to 63.The Republican People's Party (CHP) lost the lead in four provinces in Sunday's election, reducing the number of provinces it has won to six. The CHP received the majority of votes in the western Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, İzmir, Aydın and Muğla provinces. The AK Party votes passed the CHP's in Çanakkale, Zonguldak, Eskişehir and Mersin. The AK Party mostly received additional votes from supporters of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). While AK Party came first in 63 provinces across Turkey, HDP lead in 12 south-eastern provinces, losing control of Ardahan and Kars to the AK Party, two north-eastern border provinces. The MHP lost the majority of votes in Osmaniye, the only province it previously led in, where AK party took the lead with 46.45% up from 38.85% in the June election.
