HYSK authorizes investigation over suspected Gülen-linked judges

The third chamber of Turkey's top judicial body, the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) on Tuesday granted permission for an investigation to be launched into claims that 17 judges and prosecutors –who were performing duty at the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in 2010 and prior– formed a "parallel judicial power" within the country's judiciary as extensions of the Gülenist structure within state institutions. The HYSK's second chamber will decide if any action should be brought against these 17 judges and prosecutors. Among these names, the one that came to public's attention was a former HYSK member, Hüseyin Serter. It has been long held that an alleged structure of bureaucrats and senior officials are embedded in the country's institutions, including the judiciary and the police, and are plotting to undermine it.There are substantially backed claims that many judges and public prosecutors have established a parallel judicial power as offshoots of the terrorist organization called the "parallel state," which has its own organization and hierarchical structure in the judiciary, [and] is acting in an organized way as an alternative to the state judiciary.
