Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak compared the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) to U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump, who drew criticism for his discriminatory remarks regarding Muslims and other minorities in the United States.Speaking in a televised interview on NTV channel, Albayrak noted that some CHP members criticize the party for moving away from its principles and likened him to real-estate mogul turned presidential candidate Donald Trump."The main opposition is doing whatever Trump is doing," Albayrak said, and added that Trump was committing one of the most critical crimes in the U.S., which is discrimination."He does this on a daily basis on TV," the minister continued and noted that the CHP could also be promoting discrimination without having any concerns about being elected, since they see no potential.Trump had openly called for a 'total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S.' until the country could 'figure out what's going on.' His Islamophobic and discriminatory remarks had been criticized by prominent figures such as boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.He went as far as saying he could stand in New York's Fifth Avenue "and shoot somebody" and not lose any votes.CHP chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been accused of trying to create an Alevi-based majorıty within the party administration, with some former members claiming "the CHP has started to become a sectarian party under Kılıçdaroğlu."For instance, Former MYK member of CHP Savcı Sayan recently claimed that the structure established by Kılıçdaroğlu 'is only beneficial for groups that want to divide Turkey.'
