Erdoğan urges all parties to abide by ceasefire in Aleppo

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on all actors in war-torn Aleppo to abide by the ceasefire agreement in a series of tweets posted late Friday.

"I urge all parties and the international community to abide by the truce agreement and support the implementation of the evacuation process," the President said. "The Turkey-brokered truce in Aleppo and the continuation of evacuations is the only hope left for innocent people," Erdoğan added in another tweet.

"The people of Aleppo are not alone. We will do everything in our power to save innocent lives," he concluded.

Violence escalated in Aleppo city on Monday when Syrian regime forces advanced into opposition-held parts of eastern parts of the city following a five-month siege and persistent aerial bombardment.

An agreement for the imminent evacuation of civilians and opposition fighters from east Aleppo in Syria was reached on Tuesday after mediation efforts from Turkey.
