The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has released photographs of a military operation carried out against the PKK in southeastern Mardin province's Koruköy, after pro-PKK circles created confusion in the media with disinformation that they were able to reach out to locals.Contrary to those claims, however, TSK units were seen helping locals in Koruköy, distributing food and basic needs, in the released photos of the operation. Currently, a curfew has been imposed in the village due to fears of civilian casualties during operations against the PKK terrorists in the area. After the Turkish military, in cooperation with special police units, started operations in the southeastern districts of the country, pro-PKK circles spread disinformation in mainstream media and on social media. Some deputies and members of the Pro-PKK Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) attempted to enter the village. However, the deputies were denied entry due to the curfew and HDP Mardin Deputy Erol Dora, Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran and fellow HDP members protested in front of the security checkpoint.Previously, HDP Şırnak Deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız, who was accused of supplying arms to the PKK in July 2015 and in January 2016, reportedly attempted to entrap security forces in the city's Cizre district, claiming that "30 people lay wounded in the basement of a building and could not reach an ambulance." The claim proved to be false in the end and was allegedly a trap for security members.
