Pakistan shows solidarity with Turkey on first anniversary of foiled coup attempt

The Pakistan Defence, an online forum for the Pakistani Armed Forces, has shown solidarity with Turkish people who are currently commemorating last year's failed coup attempt.

In a post shared on Saturday on the forum's official Twitter account, Pakistan Defence said that Turkey's enemies were the enemies of Pakistan as well.

The tweet was accompanied by a "15 Temmuz" hashtag in Turkish, which translates to July 15 – the day the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) tried to overthrow the Turkish government in 2016 – and a photo of two patches representing Turkey and Pakistan, which were attached to a military uniform.

Pakistan has not been the only country to reiterate its condemnation of Turkey's defeated coup attempt; numerous ambassadors, in addition to the U.S. State Department and NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg, hailed the bravery of Turkish people who took to the streets to protect their democracy last year oon July 15.

"National Unity Marches" have also been planned for Saturday all over Turkey, with the main one in Istanbul, to pay homage to 249 people who lost their lives while resisting the FETÖ-led failed coup attempt.
