Opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has said that those trying to fuel tensions between his party and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will eventually fail and reiterated his support for the government's anti-terror campaign.

Speaking to the Turkish media Sunday, Bahçeli claimed that some individuals were trying to create political tension in the country in order to polarize it.

He added that the MHP would not backtrack on its support for the government's campaign against internal and external threats.

"The MHP stands by the state and the elected party [AK Party] in their sincere battle against domestic and foreign enemies," Bahçeli said, adding that Turkey was going through a critical period, faced with internal and external menaces.

He also touched upon Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's recent interview with German magazine Focus, and said it was obvious that Kılıçdaroğlu, who claimed there was no guarantee for security in Turkey, was serving foreign powers and put himself in a difficult position.

"The ones trying to cause a crisis in the country will fail, just like they have in the past," Bahçeli said.

He also slammed terrorist groups and said terrorism is a crime against humanity exercised to accomplish treacherous objectives.

"Violence, banditry and treacherous attacks are means of terrorism," he said, adding that Turkey was going through testing times as it suffers from the social and economic costs of its battle against terrorism.

Pointing to fact that the main objective of terror attacks are to demoralize Turkey, Devlet Bahçeli said though terrorist organizations like the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), the PKK, the People's Protection Units (YPG), Daesh, and the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) operate under different names, they have common aims, namely Turkey and its national values.

Bahçeli drew attention to the recent incidents in Iraq and Syria and said there were attempts to drag Turkey into a conflict as well as to create a terrorist state at its doors.

He suggested that Turkey should take preemptive actions and be militarily active across its borders to prevent terrorism and terrorist states.
