The opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) is set to organize a "Justice Assembly" in western Turkey's Çanakkale province between Aug. 26 and Aug. 30, CHP Vice Chairman Tekin Bingöl announced Tuesday.

It was confirmed that the CHP's request to use the site for the event was approved by the Ministry of Culture.

Earlier on July 31, CHP spokesperson Bülent Tezcan announced that the "Justice Assembly" would take place in Gallipoli because of its history and the fact that the Turkish nation, overlooking racial differences, united here to fight imperialist powers in World War I. "The battle was the precursor of establishing national solidarity," he said.

He added that as the inauguration date for the assembly they chose Aug. 26 which corresponds to the beginning of the Battle of Dumlupınar, an assault against the invading Greek army during Turkey's war of independence.

Giving further details on the "Justice Assembly," Tezcan said that the event will focus on ideas like justice in the state, justice in life, justice in court, justice in elections, justice in earning a living, justice in media, justice in education and justice in belief.

He claimed that the CHP was aiming to answer the need for a platform where people from all parts of the society can come to discuss justice in Turkey and claimed the assembly will be above party affiliation.

Meanwhile, CHP Vice Chairman Bingöl said that a box will be placed in the event area where citizens will be able to convey any concerns regarding justice in the country. He added that a "Justice Monument" was also on cards.

"A sample of the monument will be exhibited in the camp area. The monument's construction will begin at the end of the assembly," he said.

He also said that a temporary office for the CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will also be built in the area and added that the final details regarding the campsite will likely take shape over the next few days.

The CHP spokesperson said that after CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's "Justice March," the party received calls from all parts of society to organize a convention.

Earlier in June, Kılıçdaroğlu embarked on the "Justice March" to protest CHP Deputy Berberoğlu's 25-year prison sentence for leaking state secrets and sensitive documents to the press in the controversial National Intelligence Organization (MİT) trucks case.

Meanwhile, People's Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who is in prison for his affiliations with the PKK terrorist group, has urged party members to participate in the "Justice Assembly."
