CHP's MİT trucks case links under spotlight

The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) questioned Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's links to the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) trucks case in a statement published yesterday.

"The CHP has the panic of being caught in an act," said AK Party spokesperson Mahir Ünal in a statement while explaining that the CHP's provocative speeches cross the line with insults, threats and accusations, instead of responding to the questions asked. Ünal also asked why Kılıçdaroğlu still uses the same arguments as the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) regarding the MİT trucks case.

"Kılıçdaroğlu says that he watched the footage of the MİT trucks. I'm asking, who brought this footage to you," he said, while also repeating the ultimate question of how Enis Berberoğlu, a CHP deputy who gave the footage to reporter Can Dündar, got ahold of the footage and when.

Reminding that opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu is the one who needs to clarify the dark spots, Ünal said once more that the MİT trucks issue is a betrayal that tries to present Turkey as a country which supports terrorism. It aims to place international sanctions against Turkey and to put Turkey's prime minister on trial in international courts.

MİT trucks carrying aid to northern Syria, where Turkmens had been exposed to heavy airstrikes and attacks under the Bashar al-Assad regime, were stopped and intercepted by security forces upon the orders of former public prosecutors, who turned out to be FETÖ members, back in January 2014.

Recently, CHP Deputy Berberoğlu, who was accused of supplying confidential information regarding the country's intelligence service to two journalists, Can Dündar and Erdem Gül, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Ünal also questioned the link between the footage and the visit of Kılıçdaroğlu to the Zaman newspaper, which was the media outlet of FETÖ, in 2015.

"All of these are the questions that should be answered by Kılıçdaroğlu, not President Erdoğan," the statement added while indicating that the AK Party will continue to follow up on the roots of the betrayals against Turkey.
