The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) announced that it has completed preparations for its justice assembly, which begins on Saturday in Çanakkale's Gallipoli district. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) supporters are also expected to back the assembly, as imprisoned HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş has called on followers to join the CHP's assembly and CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said HDP supporters are welcome to join.

CHP Deputy Chairman Osman Budak said in a written statement that the justice assembly will start on Aug. 26 with a speech from Kılıçdaroğlu at 9 a.m. and is expected to last for four days until Aug. 30.

Budak said on Aug. 24 that the main subjects of the assembly will focus on justice in the state, justice in life, justice in the courts, justice in elections, justice in earnings, justice in media, justice in education and justice in belief. In addition to these, Budak stressed that 70 sub-programs will be held and more than 700 speakers will give speeches in the programs, saying that citizens will find an opportunity to express themselves.

It is also reported that the justice in the court and justice in life panels will be held the first day. On the second day, the justice in elections and justice in belief panels will be held. As part of the main schedule of the assembly, the sessions on justice in earnings and justice in education will be held on the third day. The justice in media and justice in the state panels will be held on the last day.

HDP deputies and supporters are expected to join the assembly Demirtaş, who is in prison awaiting trial on terrorism charges, urged party members on Aug. 10 to participate in the justice assembly.

The rapprochement between the CHP and HDP is nothing new. Kılıçdaroğlu welcomed the HDP in a televised broadcast on Aug. 23, saying: "You are more than welcome."

The CHP showed support for the HDP's justice watch, with some CHP deputies visiting their HDP counterparts on Aug. 2 in Yoğurtçu Park in Istanbul. During the CHP's visit to the justice watch, CHP Istanbul Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu said that a reconciliation process is required. Also, the head of the CHP's Istanbul branch, Cemal Canpolat, called on citizens to lend support to the HDP's justice watch: "I urge citizens to stand by our friends."

HDP Ankara Deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder on Aug. 10 called on the CHP to act in unison. "Forming a bloc with the HDP, the CHP and many other partners is a must. If it is achieved, it shouldn't be an alliance of slogans, but rather an alliance of action and joint programs," Önder said.

Turkish media reported that some figures, such as former Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Şener, İbrahim Kabaoğlu, a professor of constitutional law from Istanbul's Marmara University, lawyer and former Istanbul Bar Association Chairman Turgut Kazan, lawyer Celal Ülgen, MAK Consultancy President Mehmet Ali Kulat and former European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) Judge Rıza Türmen will attend the justice assembly.

Budak added that a memory street will be formed and a justice monument will be erected during the assembly. Budak also said that a justice box would be placed in the event area so that participants can convey their views by leaving messages in the box, adding that participant's remarks will be documented later on.

Kılıçdaroğlu completed a 400-kilometer Justice March from Ankara to Istanbul on July 9. The HDP lent support to Kılıçdaroğlu's march with HDP lawmakers marching alongside Kılıçdaroğlu.
