Arab tourists are becoming investors in Ordu. More than $50 million worth of real estate has been sold so far, and a project to build a holiday village on the Çambaşı and Aybastı Perşembe plateaus has been proposed. Ordu Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu said Ordu is drawing the attention of Arab tourists and investors thanks to the effective marketing campaign conducted in the recent period. Reporting that 8,000 of the 15,000 Arab tourists who visited the city last year stayed overnight, Balkanlıoğlu said the number of Arab tourists and investors visiting the city, has reached nearly 30,000 so far this year. Moreover, they have bought more than 100 real estates in Fatsa alone.Balkanlıoğlu stressed that they invited many media representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco to portray Ordu in international travel magazines and on Arab TV shows as a nice city worth seeing. After the law of reciprocity was put into practice, there was an influx of Arabs to the city. Although Arabs want to build a holiday village on the Çambaşı plateau, which is 1,850 meters high, and the Aybastı Perşembe plateau, which is 1,500 meters high, those investments cannot be done yet because of the property and pasture problems on plateaus. Balkanlıoğlu highlighted that they would give importance to the investments that are in harmony with nature without destroying the region's beauty. Moreover, he said they would not fall into the trap of excessive construction that other cities have fallen into.
