Initiated in 2013, ITAP FenLab is a scientific application center, laboratory and workshop program. The students are asked to participate in the program throughout the academic year and the syllabus of the program goes hand in hand with the syllabus of the schools. The aim of FenLab is to provide practical skills and laboratory experience to support children studying science, technology and mathematics. The program offers a rich and innovative scientific variety which students do not have the chance to engage with at their schools.Education experts highlight that FenLab instills science and research enthusiasm in children and allows them to learn by making mistakes, which thereby support their entrepreneurial spirit. Educators say that FenLab is a systematic science and mathematics laboratory which has the power to fuel the brain power of Turkey. "FenLab is a support program that frees students from rote learning. It helps children to love school with its syllabus and offers the opportunity to learn while observing and experimenting," say educators. Students are able to be involved in science like researchers under the supervision of teachers. The future scientists are already producing creative projects and learning the hardest things at the very beginning. For instance, students can make a mechanical computer and design their own robots from scratch. They can also build models of earthquake-resistant buildings and bridges as well as learn the secrets of internal organs and cryptology through mathematical enciphering. With the motto "the science and mathematics laboratory that children dream of," FenLab continues its operations with a total of 20 educators and five coordinators located in Istanbul and Ankara. Students who want to take a closer look into the operations of FenLab can benefit from the four-hour seminars to be held on Oct. 3,4,10 and 11 for free of charge. Students who attend FenLab will love researching and learning, and attend their own schools with great eagerness.
