Your dog can mirror your emotional character

Many creatures imitate each other and when it comes to dogs they can even mimic their owners' personalities. A recent study published in "PLOS ONE" shows that dogs have the ability to understand their owner's specific behaviors and adjust their own behavior accordingly.More than 100 dogs and their owners participated in the study, undergoing a number of tests, including saliva samples and heartrate responses. Analyzing different aspects of personality like "openness to experience" and "agreeableness," the research demonstrated that both owners and dogs influence each other's coping strategies."Our results fit nicely into experience from practice: owners and dogs are social dyads [a group of two], and they influence each other's stress coping," Dr. Iris Schoberl of the University of Vienna told the BBC.A previous study published in the journal "Applied Animal Behavior Science" also found similar results. The strongest association was between the owner's degree of neuroticism and that of their dog, followed by extraversion, according to "Psychology Today."
