Turkey's national science agency has become the center of young researchers' attention on Wednesday at a career opportunities event in London.

Represented by a team of research programs experts at the Naturejobs Career Expo, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) informed visitors about the scientific research programs funded in Turkey.

Using the motto: "Destination Turkey Initiative," representatives of the agency said that they have received a lot of interest in programs offered to researchers in Turkish universities, research institutes and industrial organizations.

Information about the EU Horizon 2020 European Research Council, Individual Fellowships of EU Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions, TÜBİTAK - BIDEB National Fellowships and Joint Project Opportunities between Turkey and the U.K. and Turkey and the U.S. was handed out at the stand.

"All researchers, independent of their research experience, are invited to participate in this event and visit our stand during the day," a press release from the agency said prior to the event.

TÜBİTAK will also be represented at a career fair in New York on Nov. 4-5.

Founded in 1963, TÜBITAK has a stated goal to develop "science, technology and innovation" policies, support and conduct research and development, and to "play a leading role in the creation of a science and technology culture" in Turkey.

The agency runs various research programs funded by Turkey and the EU.
