Taha Akgün becomes second Turkish wrestler to win gold medal at European Games


Turkish wrestler Taha Akgül won gold medal in Men's 125-kilogram freestyle on Thursday, after defeating Belarusian Aleksei Shemarov in the 2015 European Games, in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.Akgül beat respectively Azerian opponent Cemaleddin Magomedov 3-1 in the first round; Polish opponent Robert Baran in the quarter final; Slovakian opponent Soslan Gagloev in the semifinal and Belarusian Aleksei Shemarov 6-0 in the finals.Akgül became the second Turkish athlete that to win gold medal in the wretling category at European Games 2015, joining Rıza Kayaalp who had a 130kg greco-roman victory against Azerbaijan's Sabahi Shariati at the men's wrestling final on Friday.
