Turkish wrestler Kayaalp wins European title fifth time in row


Turkish athlete Rıza Kayaalp won a gold medal in the European Wrestling Championships held in the Latvian capital Riga late Saturday.

Beating Ukrainian opponent Oleksandr Chernetskyy in the men's Greco-Roman final in the 130-kilogram category, Kayaalp won the European title for the fifth time in a row.

This is his sixth European title at the senior level; he was victorious in five European tournaments in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.

He also triumphed at the European Games in 2015 in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

Runners-up Chernetskyy won the silver medal.

Bronze medals in the category were given to Swedish Johan Magnus Euren and Belarussian Ioseb Chugoshvili.
