Frontball, one of the world's newest sports' first-ever world championship will be held this Tuesday to Saturday in Mexico City. Frontball is an adaptation of the Basque sport pelota, played in Spain and France, which had already given the world popular variations such as the ultra-fast ball game jai alai. This is the street version of pelota: the only equipment required is a leather-covered rubber ball, and it can be played virtually anywhere there is a floor and a wall.

Frontball was invented by a Frenchman named Michel Idiard in 2008. The International Federation of Basque Pelota recognized it in 2014. The sport resembles racquetball without the racquet: players hit a ball against a wall, earning a point whenever their opponent fails to hit it back after a single bounce.
