Turkish archers hit bull's-eye in landmark year

2018 has been a landmark year for Turkish archers who claimed a record-breaking 21 gold, 15 silver, and nine bronze medals in different international competitions.

The medals came in the 2018 World Championship, European Championship, Mediterranean Games, World Cup, European Cup, Islamic Games, and European Grand Prix tournaments.

The 19-year-old Mete Gazoz was the standout performer of the year with six gold, four silver, and two bronze medals in men's international competitions.

Meanwhile, Yeşim Bostan and Yasemin Ecem Anagöz both proved their mettle in women's archery competitions.

Bostan won five golds, two silvers, and one bronze, while Anagöz brought home three gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.

"Turkish archers raised their international prestige by making history this year," Abdullah Topaloğlu, head of the Turkish Archery Federation, told Anadolu Agency (AA).
