Turkish international Arda Güler has been named Real Madrid’s Player of the Month for September after earning the club’s Five-Star Player award in a fan vote.

The 21-year-old midfielder was selected ahead of teammates Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Ibrahima Konate and Thibaut Courtois, with Real Madrid announcing the result on its official social media accounts.

Güler has made seven appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season and has scored once, continuing to build his role in the team after an injury-disrupted start to his career in Spain.

A strong September

Güler featured in all four of Real Madrid’s La Liga matches in September, starting three and coming off the bench in the other.

He provided an assist in the 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano and was regularly involved in Real Madrid’s attacking buildup, helping create opportunities for forwards Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

His influence was not limited to his goal contributions. Güler was consistently involved in chance creation, progressive passing and the final third as he took on greater responsibility in Real Madrid’s midfield.

Real Madrid's results were mixed during the month, with victories over Rayo Vallecano and Elche coming alongside defeats to Real Betis and Atlético Madrid. Güler, however, maintained a prominent role in the team's attacking play and earned enough support from fans to claim the monthly award.

His only goal of the season so far came Aug. 30, when he scored as a late substitute in Real Madrid’s 4-0 home victory over Málaga.

Growing role in Madrid

Güler joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe in July 2023 and signed a contract through June 2029. The move came after he had emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Turkish football.

The left-footed midfielder developed through Gençlerbirliği’s academy before joining Fenerbahçe’s youth system in 2019. He made his senior debut for the Istanbul club in 2021 and quickly established himself as a creative threat with his close control, vision and ability to play between the lines.

He helped Fenerbahçe win the Turkish Cup during the 2022-23 season before making the move to Madrid.

His first seasons at Real Madrid were affected by injuries, limiting his opportunities to establish himself immediately. He has gradually become a more regular contributor, showing greater versatility by operating as an attacking midfielder, from wider positions and in a deeper creative role.

Güler has also collected major honors with Real Madrid, including La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles, while becoming an increasingly important player for the Türkiye national team.
