The Turkish national women's volleyball team, affectionately known as the "Sultans of the Net," soared to new heights as they clinched the 2023 CEV European Volleyball Championship title on Sunday after edging a resilient Serbian team 3-2 in the final.

The momentous clash began with both nations locked in an intense battle, trading points back and forth.

The scoreboard read 14-14, yet, it was Serbia who managed to break free from the deadlock, capitalizing on Türkiye's errors to seize three consecutive points, pushing the score to 18-15.

The Sultans, displaying unyielding determination, orchestrated a remarkable comeback, drawing level at 19-19 with a spectacular three-point streak, orchestrated by the ever-reliable Vargas.

It was at this pivotal juncture that Serbian head coach Giovanni Guidetti called a timeout, hoping to quell the Turkish resurgence.

The nail-biting exchange continued until the score reached 25-25, but Serbia's composure under pressure allowed them to snatch the first set, concluding it 27-25 and taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

Undeterred by the setback, both teams resumed the battle in the second set with an impressive offensive display.

The early stages saw the score knotted at 5-5, but Türkiye's Eda Erdem Dündar's exquisite play propelled her team to a two-point advantage at 6-8.

As the set progressed, Türkiye's strong defensive play further widened the gap to 11-15.

Ebrar Karakurt's heroics ensured Türkiye maintained their lead at 16-20, prompting Serbia's Giovanni Guidetti to employ his second timeout in a bid to reverse his team's fortunes.

However, the Turkish squad continued to shine, securing the set with a commanding 25-21 win.

Entering the third set with newfound confidence, Serbia managed to seize an early 5-3 lead, thanks to an effective blend of offense and defense.

Türkiye, however, quickly regrouped, staging a breathtaking three-point rally to surge ahead 6-5. With the momentum firmly in their favor, the Turkish team capitalized on Vargas' stellar service round, constructing an impressive 11-6 lead.

Serbia, showing resilience, clawed their way back into the set, narrowing the gap to just two points at 13-15.

A timeout from the Turkish side's coach Daniele Santarelli aimed to steady the ship.

Although Türkiye temporarily extended their lead to four points at 14-18, Serbia's tenacity came to the fore, equalizing at 19-19.

In a tense conclusion, Serbia secured the third set 25-22, mounting a comeback that set the stage for a thrilling climax.

The fourth set witnessed a fierce battle, with the Turkish team establishing an early three-point lead at 2-5.

Serbia, however, displayed newfound prowess in both attack and defense, narrowing the deficit and seizing the lead at 9-8.

With the score level at 13-13, Türkiye embarked on a crucial two-point series to regain control, leading 15-13.

Serbia fought valiantly but fell short as Türkiye clinched the set 25-22, forcing a decisive fifth set.

As the final set commenced, the national team once again surged ahead, claiming a two-point advantage at 3-5.

Serbia's Giovanni Guidetti promptly called for a timeout in an effort to shift the momentum.

Emerging from the timeout, Serbia managed to level the score at 5-5.

The tension mounted as the teams exchanged points, setting the stage for a climactic conclusion with a score of 10-10.

In a defining moment, the Turkish national team orchestrated a critical two-point rally, propelling them to a 12-10 lead.
