Terrorists from the PKK's Syrian offshoot the Democratic Union Party (PYD) have raided a secondary school in the province of Hasakah in northern Syrian, shutting down the school for curriculum it deemed 'dissident' to the organization's ideology.According to school officials and student parents who spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns, PYD terrorists raided the Manahil Elbir secondary school in Qamishli, which they had been threatening to do for a while. Before shutting it down, PYD terrorists emptied the school of its 2,000 students before telling them not to come in anymore.The PYD said that they shut down the school because school officials refused to implement curriculum given by the PYD, despite their warnings.The terrorist organization had imposed curriculum which supported the organization's ideology in the city of Hasakah and across other provinces as well in northern Syria. Aligned with the PYD's ideology, the terrorist organization published school books that preach ethnic Kurdish nationalism and the propaganda of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is serving a life sentence at the İmralı Prison on an island in northwestern Turkey.This was not first time the PYD shut down a school. The terrorist organization raided a private Armenian school on Oct. 24 in Malikiyah, the center of an administrative district belonging to the Hasakah governorate. School officials were threatened for not giving education to Kurdish students.The PYD has been known for its acts of oppression in northern Syria for a long time. A report published by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) in January said the PYD has committed multiple human rights violations since the withdrawal of government forces in 2012, including ethnic cleansing and abuse targeting women, children and journalists.Also, in August 2015, a report on the PYD was published by KurdWatch, an independent group of experts reporting on Kurdish rights' violations in Syria. The report revealed information regarding the PYD's forcible recruitment and deployment of child soldiers, revealing that the PYD did this in Syria along with adults also being forcibly conscripted to serve in the PYD's armed wing, the People's Protection Units (YPG). It also noted that PYD recruitment targeted children as young as 12 years old.
