One Turkish soldier was killed and five others were injured in a car bomb attack carried out by Daesh terrorists against Turkish troops in Syria's northern town of al-Bab.

The Turkish military, in a statement on Wednesday said the injured were brought to Turkey's southeastern Gaziantep province for treatment where one soldier remains in critical condition.

Turkey's İhlas News Agency (İHA), however, reported two casualties in the attack.

The Turkish military statement added that Turkish jets carried out airstrikes on Daesh targets near al-Bab, destroying three tanks, two checkpoints, three shelters, three headquarters and one bomb-laden vehicle.

Initial information from the region reported the death toll for Daesh was at least 23, while many terrorists were wounded, the statement claimed.

Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) units have been battling Daesh terrorists in the region for the last two weeks to capture the strategically important town as one of the goals of Operation Euphrates Shield.

Turkish and FSA units have also been targeted by YPG terrorists and the Assad regime on separate occasions since the operation began.
