Global satellite giants gathering in Istanbul

Istanbul will host the 2nd Global Satshow on Nov. 29-30, in which the global and local major satellite and technology companies such as Airbus, Mars One, Intelsat, Eutelsat, Turkcell, and Vodafone will address the future of the satellite industry, mobile communication, and space technology



Istanbul is gearing to receive the giants of the world's satellite industry as the 2nd Global Satshow, held under the theme of "Smart Connections" sets to kick off at Istanbul's Haliç Congress Center tomorrow.The two-day Satshow will host the CEOs of the world's leading satellite companies, which has a combined market value of $100 billion. Bas Lansdrop, the CEO of the Mars One project, and many other satellite company executives will gather at the show in Turkey to steer the global satellite and space markets.The second edition of the show will be held in collaboration with the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) and hosted by the EMEA Satellite Operators' Association. The event will be supported by the GVF, the world's largest satellite ecosystem association and the SSPI, the world's largest professional networking organization.More than a thousand foreign visitors are expected to attend the two-day affair, while more than 200 participating companies will exhibit their products and projects in a fair area of more than 5,000 square meters.The welcoming speeches will be delivered by Türksat CEO Dr. M. Vecdi Gönül, MÜSİAD Chairman Nail Olpak, EMEA Satellite Operators Association Chairman Rupert Pearce and Turkish Science, Technology and Industry Minister Faruk Özlü.Poised to be the largest and most effective satellite industry event in the region, the 2nd Global Satshow will be a platform where issues like "Space Technologies," "Broadcasting Sector," "Satellite Industry," "Mobile Communication and 5G," "Satellite Operators" and "The Internet of Things" will be addressed.In addition to the Global CEO Summit, round-table meetings will be held for senior managers of satellite companies and the sessions will be attended by decision-makers from around the world including Mars One CEO Bas Lansdorp, Turkcell CEO Kaan Terzioğlu, Vodafone Turkey Executive Vice President Hasan Süel, Thuraya CEO Samar Halawi, Intelsat General Manager Peter Hall, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) President Ahmet Arif Ergin, Vestel CEO Enis Turan Erdoğan and Eutelsat Vice President of the Executive Board Michel Azibert.Global CEO SummitMeanwhile, the Global CEO Summit will be attended by Inmarsat CEO Rupert Pearce, Arabsat Chairman and CEO Khalid Balkheyour, Es'Hailsat Chairman and CEO Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Hellas-Sat CEO Christodoulos Protopappas and Türksat General Manager Cenk Şen.The summit will be held to discuss the topic of "Collaboration Between Global and Regional Satellite Operators," where the CEOs of world giants will evaluate their future investment plans in the satellite industry as well as the future of the industry in general.At the show, international and domestic companies are expected to share their know-hows with and provide support to domestic startups within the satellite industry. More than 200 exhibitors from more than 50 countries have been invited to the event which is expected to be visited by more than 10,000 trade and satellite industry professionals. Last year, the event was held under the name of "Satellite, Space and Technology Days."
