Turkey's leading defense electronic systems producer, ASELSAN signed on Friday an agreement with U.S. company Keysight Technologies to establish a strategic partnership on the research and development of 5G communication technologies.

"Both parties are committed to working together on 5G enabling technologies—especially on active antenna systems and remote radio heads, as well as prototype verification platform integration and characterization capabilities, with a goal of enhancing future 5G wireless communication innovations.," Aselsan said in a statement.

The new collaboration is expected to lead to the launch of the next generation of RRH high-speed broadband mmWave wireless communications exploration and new characterization technics.

ASELSAN is especially capable in developing high technology systems both in high frequency and communications. It is imperative for 5G applications to address the ever growing need for cheaper data rates. This need results in employing higher frequency ranges of the spectrum along with better spectral usage. ASELSAN's mmWave transceivers will be a valuable part of enabling the lesser used parts of the spectrum for 5G applications.
