Gov't provides incentives for e-commerce

The government has taken another important step in support of the rapidly developing e-commerce sector. Accordingly, collective membership expenses to e-commerce sites will be supported by 80 percent for exporters' associations, trade and industry chambers.

For collective memberships, the cooperating organizations will receive up to $2,000 a year for each e-commerce site for each company participating in the application. This support will be available for up to five e-commerce sites. Up to three-year membership of the company participating in the collective membership applications will be supported for the same site. In order to benefit from collective membership support, at least 250 companies will need to be present in each application.

Like in the rest of the world, e-commerce in Turkey is snowballing. Turkey's e-commerce volume reached TL 30 billion, while the market growth reached a record level. Money-Loan and Coordination Board has updated the commission on the support for entry to the market. In the existing system, it is compulsory for 250 companies to be members of e-commerce site in order for the cooperating organizations (exporters' associations, chambers of commerce and industry, sector associations, organized industrial zones, manufacturer unions and cooperatives) to benefit from the collective membership support. The system also offers the possibility to add a new company.

Collective membership expenses to e-commerce sites will be supported by 80 percent for these organizations. For collective memberships, the cooperating organizations will receive support up to $2,000 a year for each e-commerce site for each company participating in the application. They will be able to benefit from the said support for up to five e-commerce sites. In-site advertising and banner charges on e-commerce sites will be excluded from support.
