Gov't to support Turkish tourism amid crisis

Professionals who do not want to see Turkey's tourism industry suffer from the tensions with Russia came together with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mahir Ünal, in Antalya. The representatives of the sector brought crucial issues to the negotiating table in hopes to successfully weather the sanction period. Their requests include the government assuming responsibility for the monetary difference in minimum wage accruals after the minimum wage is raised, increasing the frequency of direct flights and providing support for accommodation facilities. Ünal noted that every crisis brings its own opportunities for change and that the ministry will do its best to make sure this trying period turns into one of opportunities.

Government support for plane fuel was the most concrete step taken at the two-and-a-half hour me-eting, with officials agreeing that the fuel oil support provided in 2015 will continue until March 2016.
