Russian transportation ministry has announced that a report on the charter flights, prepared after a Russian visit to Turkey, has been sent to the Russian government.

The initiation of the charter flights is a matter of technicalities and will happen soon, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a statement after his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"The report prepared by the government commission run by Russian Culture Ministry following their visit to Turkey was submitted to the Russian government. The certain date for the renewal of the charter flights will be further announced," Transportation Ministry's Press Service told Russian news agency Ria Novosti.

Relations between Russia and Turkey were frozen in November 2015 after Turkish jets downed a Russian Su-24 bomber near the Syrian border for violating Turkish airspace. In June, following the beginning of a normalization process between Moscow and Ankara, Putin ordered that travel restrictions be removed, including a ban on tour packages, while concrete works regarding the lifting of ban on charter flights are expected to be realized after the summit.
