The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey this July reached 5,075,961, with a 46.36 percent increase compared to the same month of last year, Ministry of Culture and Tourism has confirmed.

Citing the General Directorate of Security, the Tourism Ministry announced the entry and exit statistics for the month of July on its website.

According to the data, 17,325,410 foreign visitors entered Turkey between January 2017 and July 2017, marking a 21.94 upsurge compared to the same period last year.

The highest number of foreign visitors (835,525) to Turkey in July came from Russia, followed by 680,616 Germans and 277,955 British tourists.

Russia also ranked first in the number of total foreign visitors coming to Turkey in the first seven months of the year with 2,527,628 people and was followed by Germany with 1,927,360 and Georgia with 1,338,295.

Tourists constituted almost 99.8 percent of foreign visitors to Turkey in July and 98.91 percent of foreign visitors in the January-July period.
