'Turkey Home' reaches 6.5M people on social media


As the world's tourism sector rapidly shifts its promotional activities to digital channels, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has quickly caught up with this trend without lagging behind.

With more than 6.5 million followers on social media, "Turkey Home" has become the fourth largest campaign in the world, according to a report published in the Turkish daily Akşam.

Turkey Home was initiated nearly three years ago by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Today, the campaign ranks fourth among global tourism promotion organizations with its ever increasing number of social media followers.

Recently, the ministry has been putting a lot of effort to directly reach millions of people by sharing pictures, videos and content about Turkey on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and YouTube.

Meanwhile, the report says that Australia ranks first with about 14 million followers on social media. It is followed by Dubai with 6.8 million followers and the U.S. with 6.7 million followers.

Turkey has 4.87 million followers on Facebook, 767,000 on Twitter, 481,000 on Google, 361,000 on Instagram, 32,000 on YouTube, 6,280 on Pinterest and 14,000 on LinkedIn.

Moreover, digital advertising has been conducted in 34 countries on the Google Display Network (GDN) and YouTube channels. Digital advertisements about Turkey have been displayed 36 million times and watched 28 million times on YouTube.
