While snow falls on Erzurum, Antalya still offers fun at the beach

According to data from the Erzurum Meteorology Department, the coldest temperatures seen at night have sunk to minus six degrees Celsius.

Due to the low temperatures, small water deposits have begun to freeze. Meanwhile, the intermittent snowfall has resulted in snow depth of up to 20 centimeters at the Palandöken Ski Center.

While snowfall has begun in the eastern Turkish province of Erzurum, in the southern province of Antalya, the beaches are packed with sunbathers and those enjoying swimming in the sea.

With temperatures rising to 20 degrees in Antalya, hundreds of domestic and foreign vacationers are experiencing summer-like days as we head into the winter.

Despite snowfall in areas of high elevation in the popular tourism destination of Antalya, the 22 degree water temperature has notably drawn out sunbathers as well as those enjoying swimming in the sea.
People are taking advantage of the warm weather to enjoy the sun, sand and sea. While some vacationers are choosing to sunbathe on loungers while enjoying a book, others are lying out straight on the sand to catch some rays. Some are choosing to enjoy the warm weather by having breakfast along the coast. Lovers and fishers are also amongst those flocking to the beach to enjoy the summer weather.

One enjoyable scene was of an Antalya resident who deals in aquariums Cengiz Uçar swimming in the sea joined by his golden retriever. Explaining that this is the first time he has ever gone swimming in winter, Uçar states, "It was cold when I first got in, but then you get used to it. It's healthy to swim in the sea in the winter. From here on out, I am going to go swimming every day it is sunny like this."
