We have spent 16.7 billion liras on trips

The number of trips taken in Turkey in 2012, decreased by 1.4 percent to reach a total 64,922,000.



Despite the drop in numbers of trips, holiday-goers increased their spending by 6.9 percent to reach a total 16.7 billion liras. The amount spent on trips the year prior was 15.6 billion liras. An average 258 liras was spent on each trip taken in 2012.

According to figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) 2012 Household Domestic Tourism Research, last year 556,803,000 nights were spent on vacations, with the average vacation lasting 8.6 nights. Out of the annual total spending on vacations (15,792,600,000 liras), 94.4 percent were spent on individual trips while 5.6 percent (932,435, liras) consisted of package tours.
