It is a long route along the Bosporus that lets you feel the refreshing smell of the sea. Located in the Kadıköy district on the Asian side, Moda is a lively and energetic destination, as Kadıköy is often described as the Asian side equivalent of Taksim. With its long and wide track, Moda Seaside is a popular trail. Early birds who are busy exercising are not the only ones you'll see in the morning; you may also find many people sitting on a rock on the seaside while eating breakfast with a "simit" (a Turkish-style sesame seed bagel) and tea. It is not only away from big city life but also a tranquil trail among pine trees. The scent of blossoming flowers and the soft breeze in the air will make you realize that it is the best way to start your morning, as well as one of Istanbul's most pleasant getaway destinations. Called "Adalar" in Turkish, at this time of the year the islands bear witness to the awakening of nature. The Princes' Islands are actually a chain of nine small islands. Among these small islands, the best ones suitable for a long walk are Heybeliada and Büyükada. In addition to their perfect atmosphere for a walk, these islands are also tourist spots where you can enjoy a nice breakfast along the seaside or hire a bicycle for more exercise opportunities.Simply hop on a ferry that will take you directly to Büyükada from any one of the piers in Bostancı, Kabataş, Kadıköy or Eminönü – all at very central locations on both the Asian and European sides of Istanbul. If you are looking for a walking trail in a wide-open, green space away from the crowd, horns and busy traffic, then Belgrade Forest is a perfect option for you.How to get there: Since it is not an easy destination to reach, the best way to go is by car. From the European side, it only takes about 35 minutes to reach by car. If you would rather take public transport, you should take the 42T bus from Taksim or the 153 bus from Sarıyer to Bahçeköy and then just walk from there. There may be some groups in Istanbul that arrange buses that head to the forest, but bear in mind that these groups generally arrange such trips only on the weekends.Maçka Park on the European sideWhile many parks and green spaces are away from the city center in Istanbul, there is a notable exception: Maçka Park, also known as Demokrasi Park. The park is located near Nişantaşı, one of Istanbul's fanciest and ritziest districts, which is why it is a common walking trail for many who live in the Şişli, Beşiktaş and Beyoğlu districts. Maçka Park is where you can see many people jogging and walking in the earliest hours of the day. It goes until İstinye, and many people living in Istanbul prefer this route since it is easy to reach and has a refreshing sea view. The only adverse situation on this route is the traffic jam that is almost always parallel to you, but the Bosporus view is so fascinating that traffic turns into a tolerable situation when you see the water. What makes this route such a preferred one is being a way to discover the popular district of Istanbul on foot. On the Beşiktaş-İstinye route, the beauties of Istanbul grab you immediately and make you forget any stress on your mind.
