Located on the foothills of Babadağ (ancient Mount Cragus) in Muğla's Fethiye district, the walking track in the Butterfly Valley is one of the popular places of adventure-loving tourists.Muğla Governor Amir Çiçek toured the 950-meter-long walking track in the valley and said Fethiye is one of Turkey's most important tourism destinations. He also highlighted the need to introduce Butterfly Valley to world tourism.In his statement to the press, Çiçek stressed that they should work harder to create sustainable tourism in the region, which enchants people with its nature, history, sea and sun. He said Butterfly Valley contributes to regional tourism in a unique way, and the government considers the valley, the butterflies it shelters and its flora as a tourism destination that should be marketed better. "Butterfly Valley is a brand. We need to introduce this brand both to Turkey and to the world," he said.The valley, which was named after the 80 different butterfly species it shelters, draws the attention of its visitors with its outstanding nature and plant diversity including endemic plants. Situated in the neighborhood of Ölüdeniz on the foothills of world-renowned Mount Babadağ, the walking track surrounded by 350-meter-tall cliffs is a popular destination for adventure junkies. The valley can only be reached by boats setting off from Ölüdeniz or a path through the neighborhood of Faralya. The region features rope climbing stations and tough parkours, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. There is also a waterfall whose fountain originates from Faralya that follows the walking track and pours down into the sea. Guests and tourist who come to Butterfly Valley with boats can spend a quiet day under the sun and on the beach of the valley, which is registered as a protected site.
