The blue boy of both local and foreign tourists, Bodrum serves as a hot spot of taste and joy Here are the new suggestions on where to stay, eat and relax
Bodrum is continuing to see tourists from Turkey and around the world. It is becoming an essential spot for summer due to its elite hotels, peerless restaurants, nature and history. As it attracts foreign investors, local and international giant tourism brands are also continuing to add value to Bodrum. This week I am going to give you suggestions from this popular holiday town.
My first suggestion, Maça Kızı, is one of the most prestigious hotels in Bodrum. Serving both as a boutique hotel and a beach club, it offers simply the very best of Bodrum. The hotel, located in Türkbükü and founded in 1977 by Ayla Demiroğlu as a pension, offered bed and breakfast. The small property created for artists, painters and writers, and eventually turned into an international brand in 2000 when Demiroğlu's son Sahir established Maça Kızı. Used to hosting famous names from Turkey and worldwide, from soccer player Arda Turan to the model Kate Moss, the hotel is not budging from its high quality this summer either. Positioned on a wonderful bay, Maça Kızı is a superb attraction, with world famous DJs, cocktails you have never tasted anywhere else before at its happy hour parties, its restaurant that boasts a spectacular view and meticulously designed sunbathing terrace.
Maça Kızı hosts guests from all around the world in 53 rooms and 23 suites. The terraces, with sea and garden views, turn each of the rooms into a tiny bit of paradise. Many small elegant touches from the Bose brand sound systems to Aqua Di Parma cosmetic products await you in the rooms. Not to mention artist Suat Akdemir's art pieces and fashion designer Rıfat Özbek's pillows, exclusively designed for the property. Just like the hotel's main restaurant, the meal options at the beach club area are also extensive and delicious. The open buffet offerings are of a type that you cannot find anywhere else. After you get tired in the sea, the best place to relax is the spa part of the property. This outdoor spa, where the products of French cosmetic brand Nuxe are used, is both natural and luxurious. The property's boat, offered with concierge, a car with a driver and a helicopter service are other services you can spoil yourself with. In short, there are many reasons for you to visit Maça Kızı in Bodrum.
Another place I will suggest in Bodrum is Alancha. This fusion restaurant, full of different flavors, opened inside the Bodrum Paramount Hotel, the first foreign hotel of the famous U.S. Paramount Hotels chain. The Alancha experience is also known from Istanbul and Izmir. Chef Deniz Temel has really pushed the limits of creativity here. He has his guests experience a feast of flavor with his fusion dishes. The eatery, with its Moroccan style colorful decoration, is offering a spectacular atmosphere with its infinite sea view. Colorful little lamps, oriental design chandeliers, and cream color wooden chairs make you feel like you are in the "Thousand and One Nights" tales. Live music where İskender Paydaş takes the stage on some nights of the week also attracts the attention of music lovers.
When it comes to the meals, the chef, who has prepared a tasting menu to compliment the a-la-carte menu really deserves a round of applause. The trial menu is really worth a try. This is prepared from all the flavors of Anatolian history going back 13,000 years. Each has its own story, pleasure and place. Cold tomato soup, quinoa with a blend of powdered thyme, hummus with pastrami, smoked meat with fresh goat cheese, beef ribs and shrimp ravioli are only a few of these. Each is presented differently. Each is a piece of art. You must stop by at Alancha in Bodrum to witness Deniz Temel's success.
The last place I will suggest is Zuma. With its main branch in Istinye Park in Istanbul, the Japanese restaurant is hosting its fans at Palmarina Yalıkavak in Bodrum. You immediately sense that you've arrived at Zuma by the elegant design at the entrance of the place. Zuma's ambience combined with its peerless seashore location, pool full of seawater, pleasant bar section and comfortable sofas are without equal in Bodrum. I suggest you time your dinner at Zuma to enjoy the sunset. You can have a nice chat with the manager Sinan Aksoy and enjoy Zuma's original cocktails. The Fish in the Bag cocktail, especially, must be experienced. The presentation of it in a carrier bag is super unique and funny. Thumbs up!
Beside its high quality cocktails there are many choices for meals. One of Zuma's most well known areas, of course, is sushi. The sushi with eel is really a legend. Likewise, Zuma's caterpillar sushi with avocado should also be tried. Among the cold starters, seared salmon with mustard miso sauce can be a good choice. In the hot starters, on the other hand, the sweet prawns with chili mayonnaise must be experienced. The main dishes, salmon teriyaki with pickled cucumber or chili miso marinated beef ribs, are particularly splendid. I congratulate Zuma Bodrum and its manager Aksoy for combining food, ambience and service quality in one place.Tips of the week
