Watching the sunset on Maritsa an Edirne delight

Located on the northwestern part of Turkey in Thrace, the former capital of the Ottoman Empire is always a delight to see. With its historically important structures, gastronomical riches and unparalleled natural beauty, Edirne always offers something new to its guests.

One of these natural wonders is the Maritsa River, the longest river that runs solely in the interior of the Balkans. Although, the river itself is a joy to watch and spend time, when the sun goes down, the river reveals it true natural beauty.

To enable Edirne's guests to observe this wonder, the Edirne Nature Sports Club (EDOSK) has kicked off canoe tours on the river during sunset.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Bülent Bacıoğlu, the president of the Edirne Tourism Association, said Edirne is "the city of waters" where the Marisa and the Tundzha River flow together.

"The sunset over the Maritsa has been mesmerizing Edirne residents and its guests including the sultans of the Ottoman Empire. We believe that with the canoe tours, people will flock to the city to be able to observe this phenomenal view. We are here to enjoy the sunset as well as to be a part of the water sports," said Bacıoğlu.
