Top government officials discuss judicial reform

President Abdullah Gül held a meal to usher in the new year with the chairmen of the legislative, executive and judicial organs.



The meal, which has now become a traditional meeting ground hosted by President Abdullah Gül, brought together the top members of the legislative, executive and judicial organs at the Çankaya Palace.

Attending the meeting was; Speaker of the Assembly Cemil Çiçek, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Constitutional Court Chairman Haşim Kılıç, Minister of Justice an d Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) Chairman Sadullah Ergin, Supreme Court Chairman A. Nazım Kaynak, Council of State Chairman Hüseyin H. Karakullukçu, Court of Accounts Chairman Recai Akyel, Court of Disputes Ahmet Akyalçın, Military Court of Appeals Chairman Hasan Dengiz, Supreme Military Administrative Court Abdullah Arslan, Presidential Secretary General Mustafa İsen and Presidential Private Secretary Manager Müdürü O. Koray Ertaş.

The main topics during the meeting were Legislation, Execution and Judicial reform. Views were shared, and emphasis was placed on advancing universal norms in the legal system and the importance of further developing the standards of democracy and human rights. In addition, the needs of the judicial organs in order to ensure further efficiency were also brought up as well as the judicial reform package and changes to the Constitution.
