Groups of PKK members in Şemdinli, located along Turkey's border with Iran and Iraq and the site of decades of intense conflict, have now made their way to Iraq. The initial groups to withdraw were from Gediktepe, Çarçel and the Derecik region's Yeşilova. The groups of PKK members followed a route that spanned through Kavşak, Çarçela and Kazan Valley, located between Çukurca and Şemdinli and then crossed into Iraqi territory from Cevizli. Once in Iraq, they followed a course through Tırvaniş, Çemço and Zive to reach the PKK's zone in the Amediye region in Iraq.
PKK members will be meeting with the press today in Zap Valley. According to the information obtained, the groups trekked the approximately 20-kilometer route in four days.
